Note sulla nomenclatura - A seguito di studi morfologici, filogenetici e molecolari, la specie Salamandra terdigitata successivamente assegnate ad un nuovo genere: Salamandrina. Il nome Salamandra perspicillata fu creato, sulla base di alcuni esemplari toscani, per designare le popolazioni centro settentrionali di Salamandra terdigitata, geteticamente differenziate rispetto a quelle meridionali.
