Acipenser transmontanus Richardson, 1836. The Fish. "Fauna Boreali-Americana; or the zoology of the northern parts of British America: containing descriptions of the objects of natural history collected on the late northern land expeditions, under the command of Sir John Franklin, R.N.", Fauna Boreali-Americana i-xv + 1-327 Part 3 278 Pl. 97 (fig. 2). Status: nomenclalura originaria, valida. Opinioni: nomenclatura valida come "Acipenser transmontanus" Richardson 1836, secondo Lee et al. 1980:42, Eschmeyer & Herald 1983:61, McAllister 1990:42, Page & Burr 1991:27, Artyukhin 1995:7, Bemis et al. 1997:37, Scott & Crossman 1998:96, Fuller et al. 1999:22, Dyer 2000:89, Musick et al. 2000:10, Mecklenburg et al. 2002:115, Moyle 2002:106, Wydoski & Whitney 2003:41, Nelson et al. 2004:58. Località tipo: Vancouver, Washington, U.S.A  e fiume Columbia all'altezza di Fort Colville. Tipo: nessuno. Sintipi: (2) collocazione attuale ignota.

Acipenser aleutensis Fitzinger, 1836. In Fitzinger & Heckel. "Monographische Darstellung der Gattung Acipenser." Ann. Wien. Mus. Naturges. 261-326 v. 1 (no. 12) 285.

L'areale d'origine è in America settentrionale.
