Distribuzione europea di Odontesthes bonariensis

 

Specie originaria del Sud America è acclimatata nel Lago di Nemi, Lazio, Italia, dove fu immessa nel 1974 a scopo sperimentale dallo Stabilimento Ittiogenico di Roma. In America meridionale la specie è diffusa nelle acque marine costiere, in quelle salmastre e nelle acque dolci lacustri e stagnanti di Brasile, Uruguay, Argentina e Cile.
