Nomenclatura valida come Alosa volgensis (Berg 1913), secondo Bogutskaya et al. 2001:43, Bogutskaya & Naseka 2004:35. Località tipo: Podovskaya tonya nei pressi di Cherny Yar, delta del fiume Volga, Russia. Lectotipo: ZIN 15926. Paralectotipi: ZIN 17377 (2), 17410 (1), 17373-74 (2, 1), 17376 (1). Lectotipo designato da Svetovidov 1952:292.
