Neotipo designato da Fricke 1999:21, ma ritirato in Fricke 2000:639. Scritto "balerus" da Bloch & Schneider 1801:437. Località tipo: laghi della Svezia. Tipo: non è noto nessun esemplare tipo.

Opinioni: sinonimo di "Abramis ballerus" (Linnaeus 1758), secondo Kottelat 1997:42, Bogutskaya 1998:54, Fricke 1999:21. Neotipo designato da Fricke 1999:21, ma ritirato in Fricke 2000:639. Località tipo: lago Mälar, Svezia. Tipo: non è noto nessun esemplare tipo.

Note sulla nomenclatura - Recentemente la specie è stata attribuita al genere Ballerus, Heckel , 1843, da Bogutskaya & Naseka 2004:75; ipotesi già sostenuta da Hensel 1978, che assegnava al genere anche la specie A. sapa. La scelta è stata accettata in Eschmeyer. Nel presente lavoro abbiamo ritenuto di continuare a seguire la nomenclatura adottata da Kottelat 1997:42, fino a quando non sarà fatta più chiarezza sulla motivazione di tale scelta e sulle caratteristiche del genere in questione.
