Note sulla sistematica - La sistematica della specie è tuttora controversa. Alla luce di recenti studi genetici e molecolari che ne hanno evidenziato la divergenza, devono essere rimosse da A. bipunctatus gran parte delle popolazioni della Russia, dei Balcani meridionali, e quelle diffuse in Asia centroccidentale, dall'Anatolia alla Transcaspia a nord fino al Bassopiano Sarmatico centrale, perché appartenenti ad altre specie.

Distribuzione di Alburnoides bipunctatus

 

 

Questa mappa dell'area di diffusione di A. bipunctatus è antecedente al riconoscimento come specie valide di quasi tutte le sue sottospecie. In attesa di ulteriori chiarimenti, riteniamo che l'area di distribuzione di questa specie  sia limitata alle acque continentali dell’Europa centrosettentrionale (dalla Bretagna all'Ucraina), e che devono escludersi gran parte delle popolazioni della Russia e dei Balcani meridionali, quelle dell'Asia centroccidentale (dall'Anatolia alla Transcaspia, a nord fino al Bassopiano Sarmatico centrale), perché appartenenti ad altre specie.
