Sinonimo di Chalcalburnus chalcoides (Güldenstädt 1772), secondo Kottelat 1997:53. Sinonimo di Alburnus chalcoides (Güldenstädt 1772), secondo Bogutskaya 1997:165. Sinonimo di Alburnus chalcoides (Güldenstädt 1772), ma valida sottospecie, secondo Bogutskaya 1998:59. Nomenclatura specifica valida come Alburnus mentoides Kessler 1859, secondo Freyhof & Kottelat 2007:205, Bogutskaya et al. 2017:93. Sinonimo di Alburnus mento (Heckel 1836), secondo Parin et al. 2014:68 datato 1837. Località tipo: fiumi Salghir ed Alma, e probabilmente altri corsi d'acqua della Crimea; mercato di Simferopol, Crimea, Ucraine. Tipo: nessuno. Sintipi: (molti) ?BMNH 1879.11.14.144-147 [ex ZIN] (4) Suchum-Kali; nessun tipo è più presente allo ZIN.

Alburnus chalcoides mentoides Tseeb, 1930. Study of Alburnus chalcoides Güld. mentoides, ssp. nova. Trudy Krimskogo Naucno-Issledovatel'skogo Instituta Biologii i Biologiceskogo Fakul'teta v. 3 (n° 1): 133-166. Sinonimo ambiguo, combimazione originale, nomenclatura ICZN non valida. Descritta come nuova sottospecie, ma forse si tratta soltanto di una descrizione di Alburnus mentoides Kessler 1859 come sottospecie.

Distribuzione di Alburnus mentoides secondo IUCN

 

La specie è diffusa solamente in alcuni piccoli torrenti della Penisola di Crimea in Ucraina: Salgir, Alma, Chornya, Bel Bek and Kacha.
