Nota sui nomi comuni - In questo elenco sicuramente figurano i nomi comuni che, normalmente, vengono attribuiti ad esemplari del genere Barbus correlati al raggruppamento di popolazioni che veniva ascritto alla specie B. petenyi.

Barbus petenyii (non Heckel, 1852). Errore d'identificazione, nomenclatura ICZN non valida.

Pseudobarbus leonhardi Bielz, 1853. Verh. Uebersicht der lebenden Fische Siebenbürgens. Verh. Mitth. Siebenbüngens 172-185; v. 4 179 Pl. 3 (fig. 1). Sinonimo junior, combinazione originale, nomenclatura ICZN non valida. Opinioni - Oggettivo sinonimo di Barbus petenyi Heckel 1852, secondo Kotlík et al. 2002:237. Sinonimo di Barbus peloponnesius Valenceinnes 1842, per Kottelat 1997:49, Economidis et al. in Banarescu & Bogutskaya 2003:301. Località tipo: molte località, Siebenbürgen (adesso Romania). Tipo: nessuno. Sintipi: collocazione attuale ignota.

Barbus leonhardi Bielz, 1853. Verh. Mitth. Siebenbüngens v. 4 179 Pl. 3 (fig. 1). Nuova combinazione per "Pseudobarbus leonhardi" Bielz, 1853, vedere sopra.

Distribuzione di Barbus peloponnesius secondo IUCN

 

L'areale della specie risulta limitato al Peloponneso ed alla Grecia occidentale, da Kalamas al Parmissos.
