Note tassonomiche - Nonostante R. heckelii non sia stata accettata come specie valida dalla maggior parte degli autori, recenti studi molecolari sostengono fortemente la sua validità.

 

 

Distribuzione di Rutilus heckelii secondo IUCN

 

 

Specie semianadroma presente nelle lagune salmastre e nei bacini dei fiumi tributari del Mar Egeo a est del Lago di Volvi, e lungo le coste, nelle acque salmastre, nei bacini dei fiumi afferenti al Mar Nero nord occidentale ed al Mare di Azov, dalla Bulgaria alle foci del fiume Kuban.
