Distribuzione originaria di Fundulus eteroclitus secondo FISHBASE

 

 

La diffusione originale della specie comprende le coste del nord America dal golfi di san Lorenzo alle costa del Texas. Port au Bay, sulla costa del Newfoundland è la località più a nord dove è presente. All'inizio del secolo scorso è stata introdotta negli ambienti estuarili e nelle lagune delle coste portoghesi e del sud della Spagna, località dove si è acclimatata.
