Distribuzione di Culaea inconstans secondo Fishbase

 

 

L'area di distribuzione originaria di Culaea inconstans comprende la maggior parte del Canada meridionale (versanti atlantico ed artico dalla Nuova Scozia ai Territori del Nord Ovest), il nord degli Stati Uniti orientali,e si estende a sud fino ai bacini dei Grandi Laghi e Mississippi, fino al nord est del Colorado, Nebraska, Illinois, Ohio e Pennsylvania. La popolazione presente nel nord est del Nuovo Messico è ritenuta introdotta ma, visto che la specie è autoctona in parte del Colorado Woodling (1985) suggerisce che anche la popolazione del Nuovo Messico possa essere nativa. C. incostans è stata introdotta in larga parte degli Stati Uniti a sud dell'area di origine, in Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, nord ovest delColorado, nord est di Utah, ed in California. Negli anni '60 alcuni esemplari furono accidentalmente introdotti (assieme a stock di Micropterus salmoides) in Baviera ed in Finlandia meridionale. Attualmente la specie è acclimatata in Germania e nel lago Lohjanjärvi in Finlandia.
