Distribuzione europea di Lepomis auritus

 

?

 

L'area di distribuzione originaria di Lepomis auritus comprende il versante atlantico dell'America settentrionale dal New Brunswick fino alla Florida centrale, le coste occidentali del Golfo del Messico dal bacino dell'Apalachicola e del Choctawhatchee in Florida e Georgia. La specie è largamente introdotta nel resto degli Stati Uniti, ed è segnalata in varie località del Canada. Introdotta a varie riprese in Europa: Germania (1895) ed Italia (1957), dove ha determinato impatto ecologico sfavorevole sulle specie autoctone. L'acclimatazione non è certa. Le precise località dove la specie sarebbe presente non sono note con sicurezza, per l'Italia si citano i dintorni di Roma. Alcuni autori la segnalano come acclimatata in Scandinavia meridionale e nel Regno Unito.
