Distribuzione europea di Lepomis gibbosus

 

Specie originaria del Nord America: dal Nuovo Brunswick in Canada alla Carolina del sud negli Stati Uniti. In Europa il persico sole è alloctono, introdotto con acclimatazione in quasi tutto il territorio, con eccezione delle zone dove la temperatura invernale impedisce la sopravvivenza della specie. In Italia il persico sole è stato immesso nel corso medio inferiore del fiume Arno, dove ha trovato un ambiente favorevole alla sua acclimatazione. Altre segnalazioni provengono da varie località del bacino del Po.
