Opinioni: discutibile come sinonimo di "Knopowitschia panizzae" (Verga 1841), secondo Miller 1973:497; nomenclatura valida come "Economidichthys pygmaeus" (Holly 1929), per Economidis & Miller 1990:134, Economidis 1995:208, Bianco et al. 1996:53, Kottelat 1997:176, McKay & Miller 1997:1464, Economou et al. in Miller 2004:443, Huyse et al. 2004:327. Località tipo: nei pressi di Zoodochos [Piggi] vicino a Kaligoni, un piccolo villaggio nell'isola di Levkas, Grecia. Tipo: nessuno. Sintipi: NMW 17922-33, 33930 (12).

Economidichthys pygmaeus (Holly, 1929). Status: nuova nomenclatura, valida.

Gobius canestrinii (non Ninni, 1883). Status: errore d'identificazione, nomenclatura non valida.

Pomatoschistus pygmaeus (Holly, 1929). Status: nuova nomenclatura, non valida.

Località tipo: fiume Louros e lago Trichonis, Grecia occidentale. Tipo: nessuno. Sintipi: collocazione attuale ignota.

	*Distribuzione di Economidichthys pigmaeus* secondo IUCN**

L'area di distribuzione della specie è ristretta e discontinua. Grecia occidentale, a nord del golfo di Patrasso, inclusa l'isola di Lefkas (dove forse è scomparsa). Presente nei fiumi Louros, Arachthos e nel lago Trichonis, nel corso inferiore dei bacini dei fiumi Kalamas ed Acheloo, nel lago Pahvotis (introdotta) e nei torrenti Blyko, e Agios Dimitrios.
