Località tipo: palude vicino a Batum e lago Inkit nei pressi di Pitzunda, Georgia, Eurasia. Tipo: mancante. Sintipi: BMNH 1896.3.28.26-28 [ex Mus. Tiflis] (3) Lago Temirgorje, Georgia, Eurasia.

Distribuzione di Knipowitschia caucasica

 

Specie diffusa lungo le coste e nelle acque salmastre dell'Egeo settentrionale, Mar Nero e mar Caspio. La sua presenza è segnalata nei seguenti paesi: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Grecia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Romania, Russia, Turchia, Uzbekistan.
