Gobius thessalus Vinciguerra 1921. Descrizione di tre nuove specie di pesci delle acque dolci di Grecia. Ann. Mus. Civ. Stor. Nat. Genova (Ser. 3a) 322-331; v. 9 (no. 49) 323 [2] Pl. 4 (fig. 1). Status: nomenclatura originaria, non valida. Opinioni: nomenclatura valida come "Knipowitschia thessala" (Vinciguerra 1921), secondo Economidis & Miller 1990:158, Economidis 1995:208, Kottelat 1997:177, McKay & Miller 1997:1464, Miller & Economidis in Miller 2004:423. Catalogo: Tortonese 1963:344. Località tipo: torrente Kefalovriso, Monte Kissavo, nei pressi del villaggio di Chasabali, Tessaglia, Grecia. Tipo: nessuno. Sintipi: (molti) MSNG 12606 (9).

Knipowitschia thessala (Vinciguerra, 1921). Status: nuova nomenclatura, valida.

	*Distribuzione di Knipowitschia thessala secondo* IUCN**

K. thessala ha un areale ristretto e frammentato, coincidente con il bacino del fiume Pinios e con i canali ad esso collegati, in Tessaglia. La specie era comune nel lago Karla ma, a seguito di massicce opere di bonifica, si è ridotta a poche isolate sottopopolazioni.
