Distribuzione di Sander lucioperca secondo IUCN

 

 

Specie originaria dei bacini di mar Caspio, mar Baltico, mar Nero e lago d'Aral. In Finlandia si spinge fino a circa 65° nord. Autoctona anche nel fiume Elba (bacino del Mare del Nord) e nel fiume Maritza (bacino del Mar Egeo). Introdotta per scopi alimentari ed alieutici in gran parte di Europa. Le immissioni sono iniziate a partire dal 1878 in Gran Bretagna, seguita da Italia settentrionale, dal fiume Strimone in Grecia, dall'Europa continentale ad occidente del fiume Elba, e dal lago Onega e dal fiume Severnaya Dvina nel bacino del Mar Bianco. L'introduzione nei fiumi Ebro, Tago, e Jucar nella Penisola Iberica è più recente, come la comparsa nei bacini dei fiumi Arno e Tevere in Italia peninsulare. S. lucioperca è stata ampiamente introdotta al di fuori dell'Europa in Anatolia, Nord Africa, nei bacini dei fiumi Ob e Amur (Siberia), nei laghi Issyk-Kul (Kirghizistan) e Balkhash, in molti bacini più piccoli del Kazakhstan centrale, ed in alcune acquacolture cinesi, da cui successivamente è stata introdotta in natura.
