Distribuzione europea di Oncorhynchus clarckii

 

Specie diffusa nei bacini dell'Oceano Pacifico nord orientale: dalla zona settentrionale del Prince William Sound, Alaska, fino al fiume Eel nel nord California, USA. La sottospecie Oncorhynchus clarkii lewisi è presente dal sud est della British Columbia e dall'ovest Alberta, a sud fino al Montana, USA. La sottospecie Oncorhynchus clarkii pleuriticus, insieme ad altre sottospecie sono diffuse nella fascia centrale del nord America, dal Montana al Nuovo Messico. Largamente introdotta in fiumi, laghi e torrenti del resto del nord America. In Europa viene allevata da molto tempo, ma viene confusa con la trota iridea (Oncorhynchus mykiss), probabilmente è stata introdotta quasi ovunque, anche se è certa soltanto la sua acclimatazione nella penisola Scandinava e nei paesi rivieraschi del mar Baltico.
