Note sulla sistematica - Dall'esame di varie popolazioni di trota attribuite a S. farioides risulta una notevole variabilità morfologica, pertanto molti autori (tra cui Kottelat & Freyhof 2007) ritengono che S. farioides rappresenti probabilmente un assemblaggio artificiale di diverse specie ancora da determinare. Alcuni autori inseriscono tra le popolazioni di S. farioides anche quelle attualmente attribuite a S. zrmanjaensis Karaman, 1938.
