Note sulla sistematica - Sulla base di dati morfologici e di letteratura, Kottelat (1997) ha considerato S. colii, S. scharffi e S. trevelyani, specie valide separate, e come tali sono ancora trattate in Eschmeyer (2010). Alla luce di più recenti studi genetici e molecolari, Kottelat & Freyhof (2007) hanno ritenuto di indserire entrambi, S. scharffi e S. trevelyani tra i sinonimi di S. colii.
