Distribuzione di Cottus poecilopus (from Kottelat & Freyhof, 2007)

 

 

Specie diffusa nel bacino del Mar Baltico, in particolare nel nord della Svezia e della Finlandia tra il 64° ed il 68° parallelo nord, nella zona centrale dei laghi finlandesi, in pochi corsi d'acqua nel sud della Finlandia ed in Polonia settentrionale, nel Lago Ladoga e nei bacini meridionali del Lago Onega, nel Lago Hancza in Polonia e nel bacino del fiume Skjernaa in Danimarca. La specie era diffusa anche in alcuni laghi nel nord della Germania dove attualmente risulta estinta. In Europa centrale la specie è presente nei torrenti dei Carpazi tributari dei bacini dei fiumi Danubio, Dniestr, Vistola e Oder. In Siberia si incontra dal fiume Ob fino al fiume Lena verso est. Assente nei bacini dei fiumi tributari del Mar Baltico a sud del fiume Iijöki in Finlandia centrale e nei fiumi afferenti al Mar Bianco ed al Mare di Barents. Le popolazioni di Cottus dei fiumi Kolyma, Amur e dei bacini coreani, di solito identificati come Cottus poecilopus appartengono ad una specie diversa.
