Distribuzione di Silurus glanis secondo IUCN

 

La specie è originaria dei grandi fiumi dell’Europa centrale e dell'Asia nord occidentale, è stata introdotta per scopi alieutici in molti paesi europei. In Italia è alloctona. Introdotta nel 1956, oggi il Siluro è diffusa nel Po e nei suoi affluenti, recentemente è stata immessa nei bacini dei fiumi Tevere ed Arno dove si è acclimatata.
